Abstract

ARI is a respiratory tract infection characterized by a fever of 38°C and accompanied by one of the symptoms/signs of respiratory disease such as cough/shortness of breath/sore throat/cold/mild to severe pneumonia (Kemenkes RI, 2020). Home and environmental conditions that do not meet health requirements can be a place for the transmission of environmental-based diseases such as Acute Respiratory Infections (ARI). Dulong Village is one of the villages in the working area of the Alor Kecil Health Center which experienced an increase in the number of ARI cases, from 97 cases in 2018 to 119 cases until October 2020 (Puskesmas Alor Kecil, 2020). This study aims to determine the relationship between the physical condition of the house, the mother's cooking habits with the incidence of ARI in children under five in Dulolong Village. This study uses an analytical survey with a case-control design. The population in this study were all children aged 1-5 years in Dulolong Village, as many as 124 children under five consisting of 69 children under five for the case population and 55 under five for the control population. The sampling technique using the case-control formula obtained 35 samples with a ratio of 1: 1 so that a sample of 70 children under five was needed according to the predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria. Collecting data using questionnaires, observations, interviews, and documentation. After the data was collected then the data was processed and analyzed using the Chi-square test. From the results of the study, it was found that there was a relationship between ventilation area (p = 0.017; OR = 3.69), type of floor (p = 0.004; OR = 5.06), occupancy density (p = 0.004; OR = 4.79), ownership of holes smoke (p = 0.028; OR = 3.43), maternal habits (p = 0.002; OR = 5.45) with the incidence of ARI in children under five in Dulolong Village. Toddlers who live in houses with wooden/woven walls are 1.18 times more likely to get ARI compared to toddlers who live in houses with brick walls/plaster walls (p = 1,000).

Abstract

The Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) has increased from 2019 to 2021. Antenatal Care is one of the efforts to reduce MMR. The K4 coverage of the Puskesmas Seba in 2019–2021 fluctuated and tended to decrease, so that it had not been able to meet the target of minimum service standards for pregnant women visits of 85%. The purpose of this study was to identify the factors associated with antenatal care visits for mothers in the working area of the Puskesmas Seba in 2022. This research was conducted in the form of an analytic survey with a cross-sectional design. The research sample consisted of 372 research participants, which included 77 respondents. The questionnaire instrument was used together with the interview method to obtain data. Descriptive analysis and Spearman's test with α=0.05 were used to process the data. The test results showed that antenatal care visits were related to knowledge (p = 0.000), perceived suscepibility (p = 0.004), perceived benefits (0.004), and perceived barrier (0.000). Age (p=0.163) and husband's support (p=0.056) were not related to antenatal care visits. The test results also show a fairly strong relationship between the variables of knowledge, perceived suscepibility and perceived benefits, while there is a very strong correlation between perceived barriers and antenatal care visits. The recommendation that can be given is that health workers can offer more counseling and counseling to mothers so that they will be more motivated to make visits.

Abstract

Stunting is a long-term problem of malnutrition resulting in children who are too small for their age. Malnutrition occurs when the baby is in the womb and early after the baby is born, but stunting only appears after the baby is 2 years old. Data on stunting cases at the Kalike Health Center are 31.05% in 2020, 20.83% in 2021 and 17% for the August period in 2022. These statistics show that although the number of stunting cases around the Kalike Health Center has decreased, it is still far from the target of 14 percent set in the 2024 National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN). toddlers in the Kalike Health Center area. The research used is a type of analytic observation research with a case control design. The sample in this study amounted to 78 respondents, consisting of 38 case samples and 39 control samples. The data collection instrument in this study used a questionnaire consisting of a questionnaire on maternal knowledge, food intake and parenting patterns. The sampling technique used is simple random sampling with matching. Data analysis used univariate and bivariate analysis with chi-square test. The results showed that the factors influencing stunting included mother's level of knowledge p=0.012 (OR=3.600), energy adequacy p=0.022 (OR=3.294), protein adequacy level p=0.041 (OR=2.875), and history of exclusive breastfeeding. p = 0.036 (OR = 3.035) and parenting style p = 0.038 (OR = 2.970), while factors that did not affect the incidence of stunting were parents' income p = 0.709 (OR = 0.567) and immunization status (p = 0.598). Education about the importance of exclusive breastfeeding must be increased and attention must be paid to a balanced diet, especially energy-sourced foods, to avoid growth retardation in toddlers.
